Development Team Lead
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To manage and deliver development projects for the Department to the agreed client specification. To ensure these projects are delivered on time, are of an acceptable quality using the agreed resources and cost.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
• Ensuring the actual project development hours are in line with the original estimations.
• Ensuring actual project delivery dates are in line with the original delivery dates as agreed with the Regional Development Manager.
• Ensure that projects meet the requirements as detailed in the agreed project specification.
• Ensure that Quality Assurance returns are no greater than agreed during project planning.
• Ensure all actions are met to the time and quality as expected by the business
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
EXTERNAL
Work with technical counterpart on client/supplier side to ensure that the project is integrated into the clients systems.
INTERNAL
Liaise with operations to determine any operational performance, quality, and delivery issues with the specific project and agree specific timelines for improvements.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Delivery of team development projects in line with agreed dates, resources and technical specifications.
• Provide an up to date weekly plan for their Team to the Development Manager for the start of each week. The plan will be in accordance with the priorities for the team which will be set by the business, and must have at least one month’s worth of forward planning.
• Ensure that all actions assigned to themselves and to their team members are followed through in line with the businesses expectations.
• Ensure all estimations provided by the team are given in the correct format as specified by the Development Manager and are delivered within the agreed timescale.
• Ensure that the Risks and Issues spreadsheet is up to date on a weekly basis for their team.
• Ensure all code is kept within a secure retrievable location so that regular builds can be conducted in line with the release plan agreed with the Development Manager. This is to include all of the version control for each product the team is responsible for.
• To communicate all variances from the agreed plan and/or design in a timely and clear fashion to the Development Manager.
• Ensure that development standards and guidelines are adhered to within their team.
• Ensure that each product that the Team is responsible for has a sufficient amount of coverage and understanding across the team to account for any immediate loss of resources.
• Communicate key milestones with the developers on large projects to proactively manage development hours and delivery dates.
• Ensure that the Developers within their teams have the right skill sets and attitude to meet the project requirements. Through the appraisal system review these skill sets and recommend training as required.
• Provide weekly project status reports as required by the Regional Development Manager. Ensure this information is valid at the time of collation.
• To have line management responsibility for all Developers within their team.
• Ensure all Developers within their team record their activity on the required systems within the agreed time scales.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties and requests as required by the business.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• At least 5 years experience of successfully managing a development team.
• Minimum of 6 years experience of development within the mobile sector.
• Must be technically literate in the languages systems and applications currently in use by the Company.
Candidate must be a US Citizen or possess a green card, must be fluent in English and must currently reside in the New York City area. We will not sponsor visa candidates nor will we relocate individuals.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical subject from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education, on-the-job experience, and training.
TRANSFERABLE SKILLS
Team player, self starter with excellent time management and communication skills.
Must have experience of leading developers in some capacity.
Well organized and strong in documentation.
Adept at technical design, OO knowledge and familiarity with UML required.
Knowledge of the full software delivery lifecycle.
Some experience of managing clientstakeholder relationships.
